Homeostasis

Exciting news at the Swan house.  The wee one gets laid down for his naps now.
I go in.  I read him four books.  I give him his bottle and his binky (his blanket) and lay him down.  I say that I love him, and then I walk out of the room.  AND IT WORKS.  Sometimes [...]

So the last couple of weeks have blown chunks. Obviously.
But things are looking up. We have great friends, one close set who saw their little one this week, and others who just had babies, who just are fabulous, and some who just love us. It seriously makes our lives such a different [...]

So these last three weeks have been the most taxing, the most stressful, and the saddest weeks of my life.  Here’s the short but long version.
We found out the fourth of July I was pregnant.  I went in the next week for an ultrasound, ready to see a little person as I was already [...]

The answer

So we found out on Tuesday that Mr. Grant has something called a malrotated intestine, and that’s what is causing all his problems. This means surgery to correct it. If you’re looking for a good description of what this is go here:

Sick baby
So Grant has reflux as I mentioned previously. We got him on meds and he seemed to improve, but then he didn’t. So I called the doc, told him and they switched his meds.
Now I am caring for the shadow of my previously happy baby. He’s crying pretty much non-stop when he’s awake, and [...]

Good days and Bad Days

So today started out good, went bad, and then back to good.
The wee one is still fighting traces of not feeling good. Evidently so is his mommy. For reasons unbeknownst to me, when he fussed through his bottle this morning, I lost it. I have no idea why or what the problem [...]

VICTORY

So we just got back from the doctors. Grant weighs 9 pounds now! And he’s in the 75 percentile on all his weights and measurements.
Also everything we’re doing in regards to feedings is fine. She thinks he’ll latch as soon as he gets through this transitional phase. It [...]

The doctor

So it’s 7:30, both the boys are FINALLY sleeping. One in his bed, and one on his mommy. Both are way to grumpy to be awake anyway.
Our little boy is rebelling against any sort of routine, and it’s getting tiring. Even the boy is starting to wear thin, and he’s seemed [...]

Oh my word

So we got a notice this morning from this STUPID apartment complex that we haven’t paid rent. Which is funny because we walked it over to the office on the first just like we always do, and like we have for the last six years we have paid rent. I swear to God [...]

Dear Feebus

Dear Feebus,
I’m tired, and your late night parties aren’t very much fun.
Mommy can’t sleep, and she REALLY needs to. It’s essential to carting you around.
Between the loud neighbors, whatever your Daddy is doing, and my general inability to concentrate on anything besides you it’s really becoming quite an ordeal.
Someday when you are [...]
