Well I just marinated the ham, got the potatoes ready. Baked a chocolate cake, a cherry coffee cake, and apple coffee cake FROM SCRATCH. The boy’s Grandma will be here at 11, and Easter is ON my friends.
My favorite part - getting the house ready for company took like FIVE minutes. The house was strewn with toys, but everything else….CLEAN! It was marvelous, and allowed me to get all the cooking done tonight, so when we get home from church, there will be coffee cake to serve, and just popping things in the oven.
I’m EXCITED. We went to church tonight at Living Word again. OH MY GOODNESS. One of the most spiritual things for me about church is the music, and tonight it was gospel tastic. The choir, the band, the energy was prime worship expeirience. I cried. I LOVE IT WHEN THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD I CRY.
The message was all about “What is Easter really about anyway?” Mostly to do with what the “Blood bought” means, and how to invoke the power in your life. Pastor Mac rocks my world. He always uses a very knowledge based message, applies it with a philosophical tone, and then twangs and “AMENS” his way through. He’s annointed, and it’s AMAZING. Plus they did this BEAUTIFUL drama, and I cried again. Grant went to the nursery, and he LOVES it there. They colored pictures, and had Sunday School. FOR ONE YEAR OLDS. He was so happy and excited when we left him and picked him up, and I love it. This church ROCKS.
Tomorrow we’re going back to NHLC, because they have a new passion play, and I want to see it. It’s going to be fun to get all dressed up and take him and show him off. He has the cutest little easter outfit (Thanks to my Momma
) and we’re keeping him in church because the passion play has a marketplace scene complete with live animals. He’s going to LOVE it. And I’m bringing a huge bag of fun to go too in case he gets bored.
This is just such a precious time of year. Remembering the miracle of a God who loves so much that he sacrificed all. I love sharing it with my boys.
Interesting thought - at my house Easter is another present holiday. My mom used to hide presents in the living room and we’d go find three or four. It was like another Christmas. Let’s face it everyday is like Christmas at my parents. They spoiled us rotten. Still do. We’re trying to get our own traditions in order, and I think we’ll do an Easter egg hunt. Just like Santa, we’re teaching Grant that the Easter bunny is not real. I wish you could have seen my Mom’s face at Valley West Mall when I was telling Grant not be afraid of the man in the bunny suit. It was priceless. :) I’d like to do something along the lines of quarters, bible verses, and candy in the eggs, and of course we’ll do an Easter basket. Probably with Easter Jesus type books. It’s hard to change family traditions, but at the same time it’s fun. HEY IF WE MOVE BACK TO IOWA AND INTO MY GRANDMA’S HOUSE, we could have a HUGE one in the back yard, complete with cousins.
Anyhoo I am sure I won’t post tomorrow with all the hooplah, so Happy Easter. May we all remember the sacrifice made for us, the love created for us, and the passion felt for us. And good food too.
