The wee one is teething and getting up at three and fussing again. I usually get up and rock him or hold him because the sound of him crying pokes little daggers in my mommy heart, but the boy asked that I please let him handle it last night, and honestly the tired in me beat up the mommy in me, and I let him. He had the whole problem solved in five minutes, and so now we’re going to go in when he first cries, and then go back in only after five minutes.
This is the part of parenting I really am bad at. I don’t like to discipline or do things for his own good. I’m way to much of a softie for that. I suppose that’s why the boy and I are together. He’s very good at that part…so one way or another the wee one will learn. He’s yelling ABC now alone without prompting, and counting to three still. e’s trying to communicate with us other than saying more, and every once and awhile he actually says more. The week brought the advent of Momma….FINALLY. I was wondering if he would ever say Mom…now I kind of wish I would have enjoyed the silence (not really at all but you know what I mean) now he’s all, “Mom, MOM, MOMMA,” and then hours upon hours of whining. He puts little puppies to shame with his whining.
This is another place I struggle - I cannot STAND the whining. I lose my patience in like four seconds flat, and I start getting flustered and mad. Will be working on that one too I guess.
That doesn’t make me a bad mom, I SWEAR. Ask Greg, when he whines I just punch him in the face. Little baby.
Just kidding, but in other news I am Queen of bargain land. We’ve been talking about how we wish we could afford to buy new furniture. Okay, maybe I am. :) We’ve loved our HUGE COMFY COUCHES, but the boy constantly whines about how they need to be restuffed, and they’re pilling, and other whines. I cannot stand whining, so I’ve been surfing craigslist for months, thinking someone has to be throwing away perfectly good furniture for nothing because - well - we live in Eden Prairie and people are loaded here. Lastn ight I find this AWESOME POST. A cream leather loveseat, sofa, and chair originally purchased at Slumberland for $100. They’re pretty pristine and I get to go get them TONIGHT. :) And we’re going to sell our couches! :) We’re very excited…I’ve been wanting to get a new rug and redo our living room look forever. We got a TV armoire for $50 off craigslist last month, and it’s been awesome. And the best part??? No credit…it’s all purchased in cold hard cash. :) It’s good to be a grown up.
And that’s it really. Tonight we finally get to hang with Em and Jason, and then Wednesday night I pack up to head to Iowa until the 1st of the year. We’re going to do our usual Christmas tour, and on the 28th we’re going to Kansas City for ONETHING 2007 and the Call on New Years. We’re really excited about that…and if you want to know go to www.ihop.org. Mostly we’re excited to be in the house of God, and be innundated with spiritual things, and to be baby free for four whole days!
And that is ALL! :) Hope your holidays are merry and bright and blessed.
