Well we went to bed at midnight last night, and were up at four to catch our seven o clock plane to New York City baby. For those who don’t know the boy is working here this week, and we are tagging along.
This trip was supposed to be the boy’s and I’s first trip sans Feeb, but the Iowa weather prevented any baby-sitters from arriving to watch him….soooo the Feebus is here with us. We originally were very worried about having him here, because…well….it’s NYC, and loud and crazy. BUT I forgot that Feeb is now eight months old and the world isn’t scary to him….it’s fascinating. He’s barely slept since we took off this morning…he must absorb every morsel of what this city is. He’s looking at every car, person, dog, and building and just so quiet and starting. I love him, and am infinitely proud. I think he’s going to be very introspective like me.
The plane ride was nothing. Not very many people fly out to NYC at 7 on Sunday morning (tip to remember everyone) so we were able to have three seats to ourselves which is AWESOME with a capitol AWESOME. The feeb slept for awhile, but nothing to make up for his lack of sleep, but he didn’t care. He loves adventure. And we saw the Statue of Liberty whilst flying in! ![]()
We arrived, Got our bags and hopped in a cab, and made it to the hotel without any crazy cab driver antics. I was disappointed. I wanted to have some crazy driving. We got into our room astonishingly enough. Check in wasn’t until 3, and we arrived at 11:30. We let the feeb settle for awhile and then headed out to explore.
We’re staying at a Radisson on Broadway and 32nd street to be exact, and headed towards Time Square. We got lunch at Blimpies - because we are cheap like that - and then headed out. We saw the Empire State Building. We’re not going up to the deck because what they don’t tell you in Sleepless in Seattle is that it cost $20 A PERSON TO GO UP THERE. I nor Greg really care to see it that much. We’d rather feed ourselves for a day.
We also hit Times Square.
It’s CRAZINESS CRAZINESS. It’s so fun and full of life there and it kind of feels good to be with a bunch of tourists. We saw TRL, the ball dropping stick, the Good Morning America studios and ALL THE CRAZY CRAZY lighted billboards. It’s fun. Then we hit Rockefeller Center, saw where the Christmas tree usually is, the skating rink, all the flags, and the Today show studios.
Then we headed towards the hotel, and passed the Public Library (Ghostbusters anyone?)
After all the walking the Feeb zonked in the carrier and I needed a nap.
We came back and slept, and then headed out again tonight. We got dinner tonight at a really good burger place for very cheap and the burgers WERE AWESOME.
We walked towards Central Park this time to see the Trump skating rink that was on the Apprentice, and that Greg did an event at last time he was here. We enjoyed the city life at night, and just walked leisurely towards central park. We saw CBS studios there too.
We also hit the glass elevator-tastic Apple store. Cause I’m just a nerd like that. Now we are back at the hotel. The Feeb is out and we’re ready to hit the hay too. Tomorrow we switch to the W Hotel in Times Square. We have the boy until tomorrow night, and then the Feeb and I start our self guided tour.
I’m very impressed with myself, as I am not even mildly nervous about hanging out here by myself, even with the baby. I though for sure I’d have to overcome my culture shock and be really scared. NYC is actually very cool, and I feel very comfortable here. I was surprised by that, but pleasantly. I think having the Feeb here helps too, because there’s the Mommy instinct that kicks and a requires me to be calm. That’s always good too.
Hopefully we’ll get to ground zero tomorrow and who knows what else….the possibilities are ENDLESS.

OMG! That was such a fun post to read! I hope you have time to post more cuz it’s awesome! I want to visit New York!
